Heartbreak

Heartbreak

A Poem by Austin Skye Elsborg

I open the book and flip the pages
Look at the words
And embrace the stages
I close my eyes
Drowning in my sighs
Play it out in my mind
The only thing to do
Is surround myself
With some one else's lie.
Open my eyes begin to cry
Ask myself oh why god why?
All I could do was wordlessly try
To beat these feelings
Conquer my fate.
Only, all I can see is another closing gate
I've tried to wait.
Tried to escape
It never works
And always hurts
Still I wrap myself in these words
Slowly imagine chirping birds
Tired and sad
Wired and glad
To see another page end
The bars of my cage begin to bend
As doors close
Others will open
On this paper, I am hopin.
