Me

Me

A Poem by Austin Skye Elsborg
"

I swear I'm not actually this conceded.

"

Footsteps in front of me.

Footsteps behind me,

Always following, always leading,

No destination, no reservations.

Feeling my life align,

Core concise all the time, my emotions are resigned.

Wind surrounds me, everywhere around me,

Trying to drown me,

Sending shivers down my spine, waiting for a crime

Roaring in my ears, resolute to define me,

Trying to refine me.

Thinking’s restraining me, always draining me,

Never leaping when I could,

Never thinking what I should,

Never doing what I would.

Everyone trying to bind me,

Still trying to find me, looking for a sign of me.

Waiting for their time to be,

Always wanting a word with me

As if it’s all up to me.

Never letting themselves see

All the flowers in the sea,

All of them crowning me,

None of them forget about me,

Forever making me the key.

Suddenly it comes to me, everyone aiming at me,

Everyone blaming me, and now it seems,

Everybody is fighting, and they are all trying,

And they are all crying, They are all dying,

To be me.
