Cables and Twine

Cables and Twine

A Poem by Authoress
"

Just your run-of-the-mill breakup song.

"
can the next few hours or so
go off the record
i think i'll step one toe
out of line
our satin, lace, and leather
mesh together
oh, it's heaven and hell,
cables and twine

i know that at the end of this
i'll have to say your name
and if i ever find my bliss
i'll attribute it to pain

and in case it hurts, i must confess
watching you cry is at its best

can the next few hours or so
go off the record
i think i'll step one toe
out of line
our satin, lace, and leather
mesh together
oh, it's heaven and hell,
cables and twine

you saw into the end of us
before i heard you speak
so every time you made a cut
you washed it down the sink
(you took it out of me)

and i won't try to save my breath;
hearing your voice still stops my chest

and if the last few months or so
are on the record
i'd rather that you know
i'll be fine
i should have tied my evers
to your nevers
oh, you pine over hell
and fray all the twine.

oh, it's heaven and hell,
cables and twine.
