A letter to myself

A letter to myself

A Poem by Autumn M Paddock

Out of the darkness,
you're here.
A new light,
added to this world.
You're pure,
a little goofy,
with a full head of hair.
You will grow fast,
your legs will leap.
You'll fall,
scrape your knees,
cry 'till you cant breathe.
Childhood for you,
will not come easy.
But you will learn,
to take what you get,
you'll learn to see.
See the beauty of this world,
through every crack.
Just like mom,
you'll be strong.
And just like dad,
you'll have a temper.
You'll copy your brothers,
and argue with your sister,
but love each and everyone of them.
You'll be tall,
with brown hair,
and eyes that can't decide which color to choose.
Long legs and arms,
a chest smaller than most.
5 fingers and toes,
a heart that likes to run.
A mind more observant than some,
a mind that is an organized mess,
a mind that can be darker than the night sky.
But you will never fail to pull through,
you will never fail to make it work.
You remind me a lot like mom,
a strong independent woman,
who likes to be validated.
A humble yet demanding woman,
who doesn't take any s**t.
A woman who will make mistakes,
but fixes them at hand.
A woman who cares not for herself,
but the ones in her heart.
A life that is loved,
with perks and inconveniences.
You will lose ones who you love,
but meet ones who you can't live without.

You will lose yourself,
a time or two.
You'll fall for a demon dressed as an angel,
A boy who will make you feel good,
then bad.
He will chase you,
your feet will be stuck.
He will hunt you,
you will not be able to hide.
He will break you,
but He will fix you.
A man,
tall and handsome.
With chocolate brown hair,
and eyes that comfort your mind.
Hands as soft and snow,
and a voice as captivating as your favorite song.
He will respect you,
he'll teach you to not just love him,
but to love yourself.
He will find you,
when he lost you.
He will love you,
no matter what.
You will hurt Him,
but He will not leave.
He will help you,
be patient and kind.
He is a man and he will carry you,
when you fall at his feet.
You will bloom,
with His hand in yours.
And never again will you question,
why you never left before.
You are now a woman,
looking back on her life.
Remembering the good,
remembering the bad.
You are now a woman,
in love with a man.
And you will never question anything more,
than how you deserve His love.
You are happy,
healthy,
and thankful for the life you were given.
The life you will continue to life,
with Him.
