CHAPTER 6

While we saw the city in ruins, To the normal eye all it would see would be chaos, destruction,and death.But to a trained eye, there was a huge difference. People were still down there. They were suffering, crying mourning the dead. And the ones that were still alive and well enough to move were hiding . “Alsigna i want a full extraction team down there and i want every bird on the ground in less than 10 min seconds.” Even though he was across the room from me his voice still ringed in my earpiece . “Roger Roger sir Pelican extraction is now in full effect, There firewall is down and we are waging a full attack on their hardware systems. virus T-minus 53 is also now in full effect.”

I looked over at Alsinga typing away on his keyboard and the computer screen glow against his face. He was furiously typing away on his keyboards , racing against the clock to do everything in his power to take the birds out of the air. I turned over to the rest of the team who were sitting around the room. In total there was about 70 of us. All ready to risk our lives for freedom.

“Europa i need a ground team from the north you and Apollo take that position , Cadenza and I will take the south position”

“What about those birds in the air they need to be taken down” “Alsignas working on that now you're going to have to deal with those damn birds for now.”

I didn't need to say anything else Europa and Apollo ran to the interior of the ship to assemble a team. while they did that I heard Cadenza come in the bay area. “What all the screaming about?” I guess that as soon as he gazed upon my face he read my expression quickly because he went back inside and appeared later with two para landing h.a.l.o suits along with two battle armour suits . “You've got company” He walked a little quicker and behind him was Alice. The expression on her face was grim. I could tell she was disappointed about me not telling her that i was leaving. One thing i could never get in her head was that there wasn't time for telling her everything . “So you're dropping in huh”. She looked down at the ground as she finished her sentence. “Look i know i don't tell you everything but this is too dangerous for you too go, You know that.”“So what are you planning on doing Just leaving me here huh ” anger began to settle in as she finished her question. I didnt have time to explain what the plan was people were dying. I barely was able to mutter something that she didn't even understand.

“What did you say”

“ where dropping in and taking the stronghold all by ourselves ,ii don't suppose you are planning on Tagging along on a level 11 dropoint”

I knew she was trained and strong, I knew she was prepared for hell itself but i also knew the only thing holding her back at this point would be the high 32 mile parachute drop.

“ As a matter of fact i'm coming along, See you boys at the bottom” And with that she jumped, leaving Cadenza and I Standing there with our mouths open in complete awe. “You do realize she didn't have a suit on right” I looked at Cadenza “ you idiot why didn't you say something earlier.” I didn't even have my suit on either i just grabbed mine from Cadenzas hand and i jumped. If you've ever tried putting on a high altitude suit built to resist the burning atmosphere while in the air..... well its like trying to Stay calm while you're in on fire while getting dressed.

When i had the suit on i my body and i began to drop at a incredibly fast speed. Alsinga began speaking through my earpiece. “Yo Avalon you've got 32 seconds of Oxygen in that thing you better drop at slightly faster rate or else your run out , Don't go too fast though or you'll hit the ground and cause a nuclear explosion And we DO NOT want the Puerto Rico incident all over again you hear me.” “ I don't really care about that right now, Stop nagging make yourself useful and fine Alice and her location and if shes hit the ground yet.”. A couple of seconds of silence followed and then i got him talking again. “Shes 7 miles below and 32 meters to the northwest corner of you, id give you her coordinates but shes moving too quickly . But you can meet her in midair if you begin descending at 700 Mph in less than ten seconds, but your suit will be on fire and well you won't be able to catch her.... Unless” “UNLESS WHAT”

“Unless you hit mock 3 in about 30 seconds. And you don't have that amount of fuel, you're not listening to me are you”

By the time he finished, his words were just muffled sounds. I began to go faster and in time i felt the suit get hotter until it eventually burst into flames.On the whole decent I didn't see Alice,thought of what might had happened to her began to run through my head. Most of which were worst case scenarios.By the time I hit the ground all I could think about was her and what happened. The most realistic thing that probably happened was that she had burned up in the atmosphere. But now was not the time to Grieve, everything was pure hell there was rubble everywhere. The Acp had made sure to try and make this as hard as possible. I pulled out my pistols and took a couple of steps slowly. The alarms in my head were all going off, I knew something was wrong but i just couldn't put my finger on it. I quickly spotted Acp guards on the top of a building about 400 meters away. I knew that i could shoot them and eliminate them easily, I took of my long range rifle from my back and then i heard a gun click next to my head....

CHAPTER 6

“Don't move you piece of meaningless s**t, and put that rifle down If you don't i'll blow you all the way to kingdom f*****g come”. I couldn't really see who was on the other end of the gun. But I did recognize by his voice that he wasn't experienced. He didn't know who he had and well, as long as he didn't know things would go a lot smoother.

“Turn away from me, NOW”. I did as he said i didn't want to piss him off. But i also realized either way if i fought him or did what i was told i would still end up dead. I heard the footsteps of other Acp soldiers behind, i could tell they now knew who i was and they weren't going to risk having me get away.

I heard there guns load and i could imagine all of them pointed at me.

“Its all over Avalon, You had a good run, but , Its time we put you down”

“Its funny you say that” I turned around as i spit my venom.

“And whys that huh, you think you're getting away this time again , THIS ISNT A F*****G GAME YOU HEAR ME”

I laughed “You know whats funny is this is a game” I said i looked down and i was beginning to lose control. “This is a game, and your the game pieces”

I turned into the monster i didn't want to become, but it was either that or die. I faced him and laughed as the soldiers dropped their guns in complete terror .

“This is just a dream” Said one

“You cant scare me its just a dream” he repeated

I laughed “What no one ever told you is that nightmares are Also dreams” and then i lost it.

All i remember is blood and there screaming. In a way it felt good to be evil again. It was like letting all my anger flow endlessly without having to hold it back. No rules, No questions asked. In the middle of hell one thing brought me back. It was her, Alice. I felt my body fall to the ground, I slightly began to regain eyesight. I felt her hands on my face, i knew this wasn't the time to let her down. She needed me the most right now, in this area of despair, of desolation. But i was gone, I remember her yelling and then I blacked out.
