Wide Eyed

Suddenly it was time
Her eyes snapped open
Shaking her body to its core

Never had she felt such a clarity
A raw, beautiful transparent truth
An Awakening of her sight of self

The world looked different.
She looked different.
The same actions didn't fit.
Her natural response felt wrong.

She began to see all that was hidden in the dark
The light hit those dark corners
And her wide eyes saw the truth
She could not go back.
She could not ignore the light any longer.
She wanted to see, to heal, to live

Suddenly there was no choice
It was no longer dark
She embraced the light around her
She stepped out
And snapped her eyes open as wide as she could
