What is your wattage?

What is your wattage?

A Poem by Sam Markay
"

"If you are inefficient on energy I'm afraid you'll have to go." Another old one. (November 2009)

"
A lightbulb - one of a million.
A life - one of six billion.

Useful to those who
make use of it;
Useless, forgotten,
once it's gone.

Cheap enough to make -
all you need are some chemicals,
and the right parts
fitting together.

Cheap enough to lose -
you can always just
pop another one out of the
assembly-line delivery rooms.

Glass-smashed bones and tendons
strewn across dumps and back alleys.

A lightbulb,
a life.

A very intriguing concept - lightbulbs and lives aren't all that different, eh?

It reminds me of where things seem to be heading, more evidently than others in society, where people are becoming more and more expendable, and hardly valued....swirl a few chemicals around and voila there's your precious life.

I like it ;D
