Soft

Soft

A Poem by Sam Markay
"

"What we see and seem is no nightmare, nor a dream. It is reality as we cannot fathom it for ourselves." Old. (September 2010)

"
Day looms over a bare cradle,
Stabbing searing daggers into the throats
Of all his infantile inhabitants.

Night has open arms,
Holding love in her palm
To feed her starving children.

The darkness in Day is nothing
Compared to the light of Night.

It's beyond belief that Night beholds good
Because we are all stunned by the lies of Day,

It's beyond belief that Day plots evil,
Because the victim eyes, already blind,
Are lured away from truth by false hope and promise.

While Day impresses his lowly servants,
Night is an honest mother,
Coaxing her tainted innocents with as much hope as she can muster,
But always falling short.

Night cannot fix us, not with love or spare parts,
But at least she's not the one who caused the break.
