Lie Dead

Lie Dead

A Poem by Sam Markay
"

Revision of some old lyrics, but not as personal as most of my other writing.

"
Give me a sentence without a crime
I'll wait, sick, biding my time
until the prophets realise
the wrongs they cannot right

Criminal minds begin their fusion
driven by mass distribution
wishing for my execution
going for the gold, and losing

There's always need for sacrifice
their voices laced with dollar signs
it really comes as no surprise
that all we know is fueled by lies

Everything goes up for sale
try your best, constantly fail
give and take to no avail
waste efforts, tooth and nail

Choke on the gags they made for soothing
bathe in opinions wasted, brooding
sit through the cons and endless wooing
become the chump they need for screwing

There's always need for sacrifice
their voices laced with dollar signs
it really comes as no surprise
that all we know is fueled by lies

Create and destroy, that's our game
this human race that's led to fame
so everyone will know our name
while others sit in shame

"Save our souls", we beg for the end
no one now will comprehend
the damage done, it breaks amends
all we know is all but dead

There's always need for sacrifice
their voices laced with dollar signs
it really comes as no surprise
that all we know is fueled by lies

About
I write things from myself, as any writer does. Most often it becomes poetry, or poetic prose. I also enjoy working on longer fiction pieces, and will try almost anything new if it fits the mood. more..
