A game of Death

A game of Death

A Poem by Lola Nad
"

This is a poem I made with the sole purpose of protest against a cruel and twisted version of an act called "game". I hope that with it, some people will realize and help to forbid it.

"
Howling to the moon in the middle of the night
A song, a lonely Cry.
A matted fur, a battered eye.
A song of Pain, of Fear, of Hate
Tail hanging low, such Tiredness.
Uneven traces in the snow
Deep in the night she Cries alone.
Shouts not so far, an acid smell
Fear in her eye, she starts again.
Nowhere to hide, no time to rest,
Running away,leaving more traces.
A trail of Blood, Red on the snow,
More shouts behind, they're getting close.
The forest ends, the moon still glows
Fight for her Life, she can't no more.
She-Wolf looks up, up at the sky
Howling her song, the moon shines bright.
Eyes full of Fear, they're getting close,
Bringing with them, this acrid smell.
A loud thunder, a Bullet flies
A yelp of Pain, it found her side.
As She-Wolf Cries, laugh fills the night
More noise more Guns, more Blood flows out.
Dead just for fun, Dead for a game,
High in the sky, the moon glows Red
Shot by Hunter, She-Wolf Died in Vain.

Your meaning is crystal clear. Sometimes we as humans are the beast of nature and killing another living creature just for fun fills me with so much anger I would like to hunt those who partake in this. Hunting for food is alright, use everything do not let a piece go to waste. I will stand with you against this Black Rose.

It was wonderfully writing and I could see the story in my minds eye so clearly.
Thank you for sharing

You seem to be able to conjure up scenes by the means of words. This is quite an excellent skill. The fear the she-wolf faces, the fear in her eyes and the pain in her body. You made me see it as clearly as I can imagine. Thanks for simulating my imagination with such a thought provoking verse.

I wasn't really trying to "simulate imagination" but I'm glad you like it :)
What splendid, vivid use of words to paint out an imagery of pursuit, pain and poignancy. The 'game' is cruel, it is ruthless and pretty much futile in the extending of the human race.

Brilliant work this is.
Thankyou for sharing, I indeed was soaked in the narrative of the poem.

Best wishes for your future works,

M.

Thank you so much! I'm really glad that you enjoyed it :)
This one hit close to home for me as I am one of many who think that hunting for 'sport' is a barbaric waste of life. Very well expressed. Thank you.

I enjoyed reading your poem. An emotional write. Well expressed. There is a deep sadness. Hunting for sport. It is cruel and inhumane. There is a big difference between hunting just for fun or game and hunting for survival. Well written. Keep writing.

I really really liked this one. A fluid tone and a perceivable message, one that resonates and means something. Good Job :)

This is perfect. This is how I've felt for my entire life. It just sickens me what some people do. Most people don't give even the slightest amount of consideration to their actions. And those who do insult the situation by saying that the killings are somehow helping the animals. This has me all heated. I almost wish I hadn't read this. Very well done.

Well I'm glad to see that most people seem to agree with me. thanks a lot ^_^
This poem holds a powerful message. A message which I believe, everyone needs to understand. Hunting game just for the fun of it is one of the most cruelly committed crimes by human beings. And This needs to be stopped.

Beautifully written, the feelings of the wolf are profoundly expressed. The imagery is appreciable. :)

Beautiful piece! Putting what is usually the symbol of fierceness, the predator in the role of the pray was a great idea. Yes, it is unfortunately part of our culture and it will probably remain so. Yet, it is just the tip of the iceberg.

I can feel what she is going through, and I think your choice of a female highlights the cruelty exercised by the - most likely male - hunter.
I like that you added a little rhyme and meter, my only criticism is the last stanza which sounds a little awkward.

I wanted the very last line to be off-rythme to highlight the vain death of the she-wolf. Maybe that.. read more
