Homesick

Homesick

A Poem by Azure

I miss  the warm sometimes hot breeze on my skin

I miss the feeling of freedom within

I miss the fast paced patoi we spoke

I miss the feeling my country evokes

I miss the treats my family made

I miss my mother as even now my memories of her fades

I miss the accent i was force to lose

and can barely get back without some clues

I miss the food i used to eat

I miss running around and climbing trees  with my bare feet

I miss the sound of the rivers  crashing against rocks

I miss my country  my Jam-rock

I miss my national dish

the sweet tropical rains kiss

I miss the Jamaican spicy way

oh if I had one wish

it t’would be to go home even if its just for a day
