Description of a Rock

Description of a Rock

A Story by B Peterson

Mocha brown and golden yellow are layered like batter and frosting in a two tiered cake. The surface is smooth like marble. But, there are quiet dents and scratches that reveal it's age. It's triangular shape is rounded at the edges as if it had made a home in someone's pocket and has been rubbed for good luck. Firm to the touch, it's hard core has withstood time.

I believe this describes much more than a rock. We, just as rocks, are made up of different many layers of feelings, experiences, perceptions, opinions, beliefs, etc. We are as rocks. We weather many hardships, challenges, storms, though we still stand firm. Perseverance is something we're familiar with and should never stop doing. Though some of us may appear harden externally, we're still human with feelings. We should never judge the book by its cover, what may lay beneath will surprise. I enjoyed interpreting this piece. Great read.
