A Monarch’s Terza Rima

A Monarch’s Terza Rima

A Poem by BMorrill
"

Sometimes the only thing we can connect to is nature

"
Autumn Leaves begin to fall
Yet they say we’ve not hit peak
Will the color show at all?

The sight can cause one to feel bleak
Wilted brown flakes cover the ground
While leaves of red are all I seek

Monarchs escape the pods they’ve bound
Then fly their colors to Mexico
I stare at the lone one I’ve found

Fallen and broken, I love it even so
I know what it is to feel trivial
Together we wonder, why must they go?
