PEARLY GATES

PEARLY GATES

A Poem by Ja

When I hit, those Pearly Gates

I hope to walk right in

So I don’t have to, stand and wait

While they read every sin

Quick entry, into paradise

Is what I really seek

For standing there, while they glare

Will make my legs go weak

So if I need, some forms filled out

And they hand me a pen

I pray the questions aren’t about

What I have done, and when

I hope that form isn’t long

Or ask for all the details

For at my age I’m kind of slow

And my memory, sometimes fails

But I won’t worry about those

Surely they don’t need them all

And pray that no one really knows

The ones, I don’t recall

No doubt I have quite a few

Which do not make me proud

And once I have them written down

Hope they’re not read, out loud

But I will do my very best

To fill them out therein

And to every wrong I will attest

For to lie, would be a sin
