Warming Up

Warming Up

A Poem by Robert J. Huntley

stupid time rolling by
what a way to start this
and that

whatever

humor coming in with the cold
insulated from the prying eyes

regretting this already

honesty is not the only policy

hawks circling the pigeons
on someone else's window sill

while pipes knock on and on

the rhyme and reason are gone
this place is conducive to neither

wishing for home
in is war time cell

see the fingers and know they are mine
as are the dribble
and the babble

I am just getting started
