Father

Father

A Poem by Bailie Germs
"

My father sucks.

"
What's the point?
What'd I do to you?
Father?
What's that?
'Cus it sure isn't you.
A father,
Actually cares about his kid.
Doesn't abandon her
In her time of need.
Doesn't forget that she needs
A little bit of stability.
He's there with open arms
And a smile on his cheeks.
A look of approval,
A sigh of relief.
A tight hug of reality.
True fathers are good natured,
And quick on their feet.
Not abandoning and thoughtless.
Their words ring true.
Not hollow and weak.
You gave me reason to believe
That you were unique.
But you proved to me,
That I'm just a critique.
You want to be a dad.
But to me,
To me you are just another sheep.
Don't bother with me.
