Footprints of our lives

Footprints of our lives

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

I gave the right of all I had to give
Beloved, when I think of how you said we’d be friends
And now your silence drowns me and I find
No imprints of your new life.

I wonder how I lifted you, from your poor state
How I carried you home,
when you were left on inflicted paths
by your loved ones.

And now you rejoice alone
I am of no tenor , no substance
Let all life then be a celebration
To slacken all these bonds which once bled

I cherished on your little victories,
by loving you, with all your ill-sounding notes
Love is a song for great souls

And these lives, they dance alone
To run and answer to another’s smile
Folding within the wet wings of your dove.
