Death reminds me of

Death reminds me of

A Poem by Balkaran Sidhu

Death, Beloved, reminds me of thy stings?
How they caress through me
through my lively spirit that loves
the flowers of thy eyes.

I see death as a poison
famely quilted with voids of my poetry
Wherever your name was meant to be mentioned
where my words brightened like mortals
just by the illusion of your presence.

My heart beats for you
even in the thunderstorms of your new life
My arms are wide open
Yet I cannot sing, the songs of life!

Give my veins, the worst of heart-aches
Make my womb a barren place
Teach me how to breath failure
And I will grow an old soul in long years

Slow, as the melodies of my internal despair
Sheltered, I will walk without friends, without love
The dry dust will not cling to my tears
Death, then will fall in love with me, one day.

Poignant and haunting, love the way the words flow and these lines in particular,

Give my veins, the worst of heart-aches
Make my womb a barren place
Teach me how to breath failure
And I will grow an old soul in long years
