Sanity

Sanity

A Poem by The Bard's Apprentice
"

Another sleepless night scream.

"

there's something wrong with my brain
it spins in my skull til i smile
spins in my head like a pinwheel craze
doing nothing but churning up bile

diaphanous delusions, sights i never heard
swirls singing me softly to sleep

misting & twirling & curling my name into mush
i don't know how to keep

shadows intercepting any thoughts i ever had

i don't know where it goes

but i know we don't know when it's gone

and it's not coming back

you yearn for blood
till the first time you see it

that goo you knew
was just there

it makes you feel nauseous
you stumble in darkness
the puke gore that covers your hands
never fades

ANGRY & VIOLENT
you just want to shred it
-that which keeps making you feel

you long for the numbness

anesthetic of healing
but that makes the wound bleed more deep

the silence, the stillness
the bone-breaking cold
that can't help you to fall so asleep

You certainly created a very visual piece here. Definitely a nightmare, that gives me quite a scare!
(I'm so glad to hear you've quit screaming.) Good job.

I like the font and the lower case "i" really seemed to punctuate and place emphasis on how small you were feeling.......a work that can connect with a plethora of readers on many levels.
