The Wife's Lament

The Wife's Lament

A Poem by Bella-Marie
"

Should be quite funny.

"

Every little morsel

Must, must go

Not even a speck of dust

Is to show

Why am I being

So sudden and so clean

Well, now my husbands rich

I can follow my big dream

A dream of relaxation

Happiness, I find

Is easy in a cleaner house

By a cleaner, good and kind

But to make a good impression

There is something I must do

Clean the house before she comes

Or my dream just won't come true!

The rhythm isn't very good, and it is slightly cryptic (and I don't like that) but you should get that she has to have a clean house to make a first impression for the cleaner.

Very amusing piece. I enjoyed reading it a lot! The rhyme works well for me. Nice job with this. (Actually, my husband called me once when I was in the hospital and said a friend was sending over a cleaning crew. And I said, "Get the house clean before they get there!" He laughed and said it was already done because he and the friend sending the cleaners knew I was going to say that. I can identify with your writing for sure.)
