I am From

I am From

A Poem by BellaMac

I am from a place where the doves sing as the sun rises

where the air is salty and fresh and the town never sleeps

I am from a place where kids sit on there stoops and play kick ball

while they wait for the ice cream truck on a hot summer day

I am from a place where the alleys are my jungle

and the closest thing to a tree is a telephone pole

I am from a place where the thunder of guns never stops

nor do the tears of the ones who have lost

I am from a place where no one fears

because its all they know

I am from a place that everyone seems to hate

but no one wants to leave

This is such a poignant write and makes me definitely
want to know where you are from! But, I suppose it
could be anywhere...even war zones have their bits
of beauty. The only thing I see that needs to be
corrected is the fifth stanza, first line...it should
be 'no' and not 'know'. ie., "I am from a place where NO one fears"

Other than that...this is perfect.
