Love's Lament

Love's Lament

A Story by Aprisia Bella

In the aftermath of our love's fall,
I'm left standing, feeling small.
Once, I offered you all I could give,
Now, it's clear you never planned to live.

Every word you whispered, every plea,
I listened, I believed, I set you free.
But when I reached out, seeking solace, seeking care,
Your heart turned cold, leaving me stranded in despair.

I gave you chances like petals in the wind,
Each one a fragile hope, a love thinned.
But when I dared to ask for the same in return,
You closed the door, leaving me to burn.

In this one-sided symphony, I'm the only player,
While you, my love, are a mere spectator.
How could you hold my heart in your hands so tight,
Yet leave me to wander alone in the night?

Now, as I pick up the pieces of my shattered dreams,
I realize love isn't always what it seems.
For love is not a burden, nor a debt to be paid,
It's a symphony of souls, I gave love a chance.
