I like you word choice of “soft” in “the soft summer leaves”.
I also absolutely love the imagery of “listen to the creek/ bubble and glide”
I can picture the grass waving in stanza 3. I think you picked the perfect simili.
“An age old dance” in the fourth stanza is an absolutely beautiful line.
I like how you mention the absence of cars in stanza five. It goes further to taking the reader away into your picture.
The last stanza is my favorite. I absolutely love it. I find the period after “minutes now hours” interesting and wonder perhaps it’s emphasizing the point.
I much enjoyed reading this!

I love it! I have ridden horses all my life and love them, but I have never had a midnight ride, so you have done something I never have. Thank you for creating this wonderful image so that I can enjoy it vicariously!

He was quarter and thoroughbred. He was trained as a roping horse. He would get bored sometimes and pick a calf. He would nose it out of the herd and then move him back in. He was a great horse. I could call him and he would come running and wicker at me. He could also run like the wind.

He was fast but lazy, so you had to work him, but once he acknowledged that you were in charge he went like the wind, just like Brandy. You had to watch him when you were saddling him though. He liked to stamp on your feet!

He was a tad ornery... OK, a lot ornery! Once I was walking away from him and he wanted me to come back, so he bit my back and pulled me back. I can't even begin to tell you how much that hurt. I had a HUGE bright purple bruise on my back forever on that one. He never did either of those things again. I broke him of it.
