I Rest My Sleep

I Rest My Sleep

A Poem by Bennett
"

Keep your spirit and body clean, devoid of impurities and immoralities.

"

Love, taking pride in the deed,
of the harvest reaped from its seed,
wakes up to an catastrophe fueled by need,
trampling the cocoon and letting the nest bleed.

The Right, coined itself a new term,
steaming the flesh, thick and firm.
The chores of the spirit infected by the germ,
cries out loud in redemption from the worm.

Too late, hailed the one in white,
soaked in guilt, I got swallowed by the night.
In retrospect, I traded my conscience to the sight,
falling short of HIS glory and hiding in fright.

The needle strikes six,
and slumber rescues the fix.
The nightmare beckons and warrants the risk,
Here I am, standing by the spirit & disowning the mix.
