July 20th 740pmA Poem by BenjaminJames
The bullet entered innocent
Disappearing like a child jumping into a ball pit Every one of them, red Spilling away from the entry point I watched her fall Like a baby bird from a nest The shell, still attached to her fragile head She layed on that bed For what felt like years That barrel rang hot and embodied my fear The smoke danced like the leaves of August Admitting its crime, so honest while the dawn was nearly upon us Of the entire world and all its inhabitants Only us house pets witnessed this...poetic silence © 2014 BenjaminJames |
