ONCE AGAIN

ONCE AGAIN

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

MOOD

"

ONCE AGAIN

My Evergreen trees

brown all winter

as my droopy face

rests in an abyss

far from nowhere

one candle, a shred of paper

words, an empty bottle

my psyche, my entire being

depressed from the darkness

inside and out

Perchance the outside

would diminish my mental pressure

should it lighten up forthcoming

I linger, in hope

that I may desert my bleak abyss

rummage for words to write in my journal

Once again

B.H.

Hello, Betty!
Woah, that is definitely a mood. Haha
It seems like you were ready to go out and paint the trees green.
Tonight will be chilly, but tomorrow looks like 70℉ and mostly sunny. That's pretty close to perfect. :)

It definitely was a mood! Thanks for reading Mat! Best, B
I have 50 or more journals. When reading and the song don't work. I seek old words and thoughts. Hello dear Betty and I hope you are doing well and staying safe. Thank you for sharing your amazing words and your thoughts.

You are welcome. I like the warmth and the sunshine
Strangely enough, I don't usually suffer the winter darkness, but for some strange reason this winter seemed to have lasted forever. I can now see how people crave the sun to end their depression.
Hopefully life and happiness is on the up.

Thank you for that lovely review, B
Well chosen images of sadness -- brown Evergreens, empty bottle. Nice flow to the poem, I enjoyed it.

Thank you Sherri , appreciate your review!
This is either writers block or depression. Maybe both. The mention of the weather makes me think of Seasonal Affective Disorder Syndrome (SADS). By all means, get as much sun as you can. Give the bottle a rest, too. The words will come back; they always do.

Good advice advice from a professional! Thanks always, B
I could only hope that the sun warms this face and awaken life from its slumber. The imagery was powerful. It almost felt as if I had ventured into a black hole. The weight of your words bear down on the reader. You've created an immersive experience.

' one candle, a shred of paper ~ words, an empty bottle ~ my psyche, my entire being ~ depressed from the darkness ~ inside and out.. '

Expressed so finely: what could be called beautiful sadness. Sometimes writing out emotions, then reading what's been released, helps the mood turn head over heels from a moment or few gone, passed... perhaps? Now we're coming out of Winter and able to see space ahead, look up at the sky ~ more often blue than grey .. brightens the spirit... or should, if we let it. I so hope that happens for you.. truly do, dear Betty. Keep safe, keep hoping.. please.

Sending smiles!!
I have similar mood...the isolation is overbearing...it is like seasons are changing without us.
I think once I did know other people...I am sure they existed...
Maybe soon we will get out again, interact...and find that life we once lived was reality not fantasy.

Dear Betty, you have certainly created a doldrum mood here with this little poem. When your evergreen trees show brown, you know you are in trouble. You need a good dose of sunlight to lift those low spirits. Yesterday I sat in my garden in lovely sunlight for twenty minutes while I enjoyed my breakfast. I have to say that was time well invested. My batteries became recharged. Looking out the window this morning, I am pleased to have done that. We have a grey and windy morning here. All good wishes.

Yes that was pretty maudlin, but a bit of light always helps. All good wishes to you as well Chris.
