Exquisite Escaped

Exquisite Escaped

A Poem by WynterPhoenix

Ominous runaway

With nowhere to go.

Disheartened outcast.

Curtains closed the show.

City streets are bustling,

Vital dumpster feast.

Homeless and neglected,

Tackle the reality beast.

Sweetheart lullaby,

Newspaper bed.

Discouragingly searching,

For a place to lay your head.

Clothes abating to filth,

Holy shoe freeze.

Relentless family searching.

Lost daughter to seize.

Isolated runaway,

Life’s been cruel to you.

Family disagreements,

It’s what you had to do.

Sweetheart lullaby,

Newspaper bed.

Family lingers searching,

You never left their head.

Many years spent hopeful,

You’d be safe at home.

Realizing you miss them,

You haven’t a need to roam.

Through the window

Viewing parental fear.

Through the door say “Listen”,

And at last, they hear.
