Heartbreak - Theme 2A Poem by BlaqkShadowAnother poem from my 50 Themes project.Once I thought we were eternal, Shooting stars surfing the sky, Aiming for a golden horizon, That embraced us in love's warm arms. What broke this softly woven dream and shot us down? You Vanished. I lost all feeling, and gained all feeling. I lost joy and discovered sadness, True deep sorrow, alone in impermeable darkness, Crying to no-one, a shattered heart. It's razor edges created scars no-one could see, Desperate and confused, In a new world I didn't understand. I lost compassion, but found rage Filled with an acidic spite, I spat venomous words, Focused, obsessing, just you, only you, Wanting your soul to be as raw as mine, But only damaging myself. I lost a friend and discovered longing, There was no-one else but you, nothing else, An aching pain, soothed only by golden tinted memories of you, But distorted, hazy, confusing, The blackness replaced by a blinding silver mist. A purgatory of confusion and longing, Made from leftover love with darkened edges. You were my greatest prize and my biggest mistake, I tried to fill the void you left, With fake love, new regimes, false promises, Trying to replace that which was forever lost. I loved you, loathed you, learned from you, You broke my heart but I mended it, You enriched my past but I'm creating my future. I am stronger, my heart no longer some tarnished ruby, But the precious core of my being, And I stare endlessly into a new dawn, a new horizon. My hand is empty but outstretched, Alone but not lonely, Waiting for love
