Why Should I Bother

Why Should I Bother

A Poem by Erika Jones

Why should I bother

to tell you how I feel when I know

you won't listen because you refuse to hear the pain behind the words I speak?

Why should I bother

to cry for your help when you're never there

to listen and see how much pain I truly am in?

Why should I bother

to confide in you once you finally notice my pain

when all you do is have it come in one ear, and out the other?

Why should I bother

to listen to you when you need someone

when you weren't ever there for me when I needed you the most?

Why should I bother

to stand up for you and your lies

when I've done nothing for you to throw them in my face and walk away?

Why should I bother

to crawl at your feet and beg for your mercy

when you'll never give it to me anyway?

Why should I bother?
