A kids life

The little kids they will laugh and play,

Tomorrow, today and yesterday,

Little do they realise,

When the future is there,

Instead it will be tears and fights that fill the air.

 

We love and lose,

Face broken hearts,

Hurtful words,

Tainted scars,

Friends and foes,

Every day,

Now there isn't time to laugh and play.

 

All the wishes, dreams and rants,

'I want to be older'

Its now here,

The tables have turned,

Life now has fear,

Its not what you expected,

You have now learnt.

 

Oh how I'd love be become young again,

Naive without a care in the world,

Innocence running through your blood,

But when we were like that,

We never could see,

What terrible things life will bring.

 

I want to go back,

Become the old me.

What really is innocense?
Ignorance, not really getting the reality that everyone will eventually be forced to face.
Growing up is inevitable, and it is for the better...I personally believe that this world would be much more horrid if it were run by ignorant people who didn't know a damn thing about the truth of what was happening around them...
Fantastic write anyway, though your rhyme scheme could have used work...but great write :)

I love reflection poems and this one is very well done. I love the imagery of the children and dicotomy of being an adult longing to be a child again. Excellent poem!
