Marine

Marine

A Poem by B.S. Scarpa

As I stood on those yellow footprints,
On that cold winter day.
I realized that soon,
My life was going to change.

In just twelve short weeks,
Which at that time seemed like an eternity.
I would be able to proudly say,
Iam a United States Marine.

I held the title with honor,
Still do to this day.
For I continue to instill the values,
In my life everyday.

Its not an easy trek,
Through the Parris Island journey.
But in the end its worth it,
Blisters, tears and dirt.

Everything I went through,
Made me who Iam today.
A United States Marine!
