Bird Pie

Bird Pie

A Poem by Brett Hernan

'Sing a song
of sixpence,
a pocket full
of rye,
4 and 20 black birds,
baked
in a pie!
And when the pie
was opened-
The birds began
to sing!
And wasn't that
a dainty dish
to set
before
a King?'

-Traditional

Bird Pie, Bird pie!

I'm going

to make some

for you,

and I!

Bird pie, Bird pie!

If you ain't

convinced:

'It tastes

real nice!'

Bird pie, Pirb bie!

I know

that was

wrong!

(But, it's part

of the design..!)

Bird Pie, Bird Pie!

I'm sure,

you'll agree,

that it tastes

quite nice.

Bird pie! Bird pie!

There's a

certain question,

and we’ll

always

wonder,

'Why?'

Bird pie! Bird pie!

Tell me

now,

have you

had time,

to decide?

Bird Pie! Bird pie!

Compos-ed

by computers,

with lasers,

for eyes!

Bird pie!

Bird pie!

It was
all the rage,

in 1385.

Bird Pie! Bird Pie!

An everyday

essential item at,

'Missus

Whiggin's Pies'

Bird pie! Bird pie!

(Which soon may

going to be revived),

on almost

every family menu

in answer,

that's replied,

when the kids,

finally,

give up asking,

for Macca's

to be supplied!

Bird pie! Bird pie!

Always cheap

and tasty,

'til there's nothing

left in the sky!

(There, that scared the birds off.)
