New Now With Confusion Dissolver

New Now With Confusion Dissolver

A Poem by Brett Hernan

When,

at first,

planting

the seeds,

brought

as,

imperative

cargo

and

sailed

from

the royal

finger

directed

decree,

To the place

Where it

appeared

only logical

to address

everyone else,

as, ‘mate’,

as they had

to have been

the ship-mate

of another.

Everyone,

around here,

surely,

had been.

On

the voyage

Only any

one

of them

were okay

to be,

'mate'.

To stand

among those

who today,

had attained

being

on the

ground

upon which,

you stood

There,

to

learn,

of a tragedy,

and

that,

of

a

Hemisphere’s

proportion.

The response

dictating

That,

the seeds,

When planted

All failed

At the

beginning

of an

unknown

winter.

A denied

brother,

You have now

Decided

to accept

Whom,

despite you,

Now,

never again,

Ever

despising,

For the colour

Of their

skin,

Alone,

you

Must.

always

remember.

Each time

you see.

You

once

mortally

wounded.
