Skinny Love.

Skinny Love.

A Poem by BeatricePortinari.
"

Inspired by Bon Iver, of course.

"

You, skinny love, are beautiful

I know you haven’t been told such secrets as of late,

But tonight,

The world is your skin and your eyes

Are its sun

Come, now,

My skinny love

Follow me

Into the deep blue sea

Are your lovely ankles,

Their curves wonderfully bloodless-

Are they to wade so deeply

Into the water upon this night?

The moon is a warning,

One that we are far from home,

But, skinny love,

Chase me here

Grab my shoulders and hold me near

The water is antediluvian

So very old,

Ancient as our thin and waning bones

Oh, my skinny love,

Are we to be washed away?
The flowers shall bud as clear as May-

Upon our antiquated and overgrown graves?

You are beautiful, my skinny love-

The day is new and you are positively pure…

Hold my hand, I shall hide your allure

For in the days since passed,

I wish to tell you-

The future is bright, my skinny love

The world just might be ours tonight.

In the palm of your white skinned hand,

I shall kiss your knuckles

And might, if I may, call you mine

Just for tonight,

My skinny love.
