She grins a ghastly smile

She grins a ghastly smile

A Poem by BenjaminW

An ocean's bitter taste unchanged
Cold, alone, outside in falling rain
A staggered shuffle, sliding passed
On the sands of broken glass
Growing older now
Turning pale
Feeling frail
Growing old with her
and now we're sick and ugly
failing, falling down
We view the sun set into night
She sighs as the feeling drowns
As my eyes settle into sight
We wait for the tide to go down
My eyelids are heavy
Her feet are swelling now
This time I am ready
To walk the checkered tile
The tremor turning steady
As she grins a ghastly smile

Powerful write here, I enjoyed this,
thought it was a little sad. Well expressed and written.
