Forgone Conclusion

Forgone Conclusion

A Poem by BenjaminW

A forgone conclusion
The cards didn’t lie
Her finger pulled the trigger
But the gun didn’t fire
His heart is still pumping
He won’t ask her for more
His presence invasive
Like a fluid on the floor
His taste inside her mouth
He can smell it on her breath
Her hand upon his heart
She gave as good as he could get

A dead man walking
She's been crushed under heel
But fortune is smiling
As she spins on the wheel
Bending over backwards
She’s an archway to night
The moon and the stars
All will bow to her might
The form of an ibis
Will savor this flight
On the wings of Hermes
He’s the greatest one thrice
