Lay Your Head Down

We moved into that place in late December,
The smile on your face,
Yes I remember,
Outside the snow was gently falling,
And the snowbirds at the window,
Gently calling,

Snowbird lay your head down
lay your head down on me,
Snowbird lay your head down
lay your head down on me,

Winters hold had come to an end,
Making way for the robin and jay,
Blue skies and sun up above
Make for a wonderful day

Blue bird lay your head down,
lay your head down on me,
Blue bird lay your head down,
lay your head down on me,

We walked along the beach
On a sunny summer day
Watching the seabirds soar,
In their seabird kind of way,

I took one look at you,
And I knew right then and there,
With the salt spray on my lips
And the wind in your hair,

That I loved you, Oh yes, I loved you,

Seabird lay your head down,
lay your head down on me,
Seabird lay your head down,
lay your head down on me,

The sun it went away
And the leaves began to turn,
Oh how my Heart ached,
Oh how it yearned,

You left me in that place in late September,
The look on your face yes I remember,
The birds have gone and flown away now,
And the window is just an empty pane now,

You said you wanted your freedom,
I let you go to fly away,
Free bird lay your head down,
Lay your head down without me,
Free bird lay your head down,
Lay your head down without me.

I like the refrains, changing the birds throughout, lovely. Is this a ballad?

What a lovely beautiful but depressing piece...I got a little sad at the end...but the wonderful images and the words really put me there!
Thanks for sharing!
