The Ruins

The Ruins

A Poem by Malcolm J. Watt

Observations from the spirit.

The Ruins

The glittering towers

Of the great city, cities

Plastered across most noble globe

Populated by the emancipated

Pure artificers of everything precious

The grand display, the spectacle machina

The exultation of unfettered desire

The summation of the unlimited

All connected by wave and wire

A collective voice to shout

Across the universe.

In defiance of governing love

This undeniable grasping flesh

Powered by the eyes of imagination

Builds these mausoliums anew

Upon the ruins of life

From which it sprang

In the mindless worship

That is only mass suicide.

How will life eat the death?

Will it feast upon the made corpse

That was fed so many generations?

Doesn't love renew life

Upon the marriage bed?

When will this mating occur

Of life free of it's ruins?

The answer is always, soon.
