Destiny Calls

Destiny Calls

A Poem by CW Smith
"

This is from a soldier's POV. With no love of God or human rights.

"
(a soldiers requiem)

When destiny calls where will you stand?
Will you hide with the heartless, or die like a man?
When destiny calls will you take a boot
to the balls, as we cut bureaucracy open
and blood fills the halls?
When destiny calls will you take a bayonet
to the gut, even if it means holding the
gaping wound shut?
When destiny calls will you keep on walking, as I am left
to do all the talking?
When destiny calls will you lay down and die, or will you extend a
finger and let it fly?
When destiny calls will you hang your
head in shame, or will you hold it high and say,
“Let’s finish the game.”
When destiny calls and you stand at the pearly gates, will you be prepared to
admit guilt, love and hate?
When destiny calls will you meet your maker with a grin,
-- or will you say, “It’s finally
nice to meet you, where the hell have you been?”
