Lovers

Lovers

A Story by Cynthia Wolff

We went out together laughing  and chatting despite the stares. Our love was brave and strong. Holding hands and sharing ice cream on the beach while I kissed and hugged you as strangers shook their heads in disapproval. How could our love be so wrong? I then saw my friend approach as I introduced my lover to them. With worry on their face my friend gently said "Sweetie, you're alone."
