Amidst a city

an imagery poem

The airbrush of autumn

paints the leaves

with colors

of senescence

the splodges of time

splashed across the coat of nature

corona of sun

filters through the thickets

mesmerizing yet

bewildering

walking on bustling streets

human emotions

are the very essence

of the city

it's the sound of baby crying

in its carriage

the casual chatter

of wage earners on their break

the cab driver's

complaints

tall buildings that are short

of breath

I'm just a foreigner

traveling with a winter heart

through the bitterness of autumn

converting thoughts and feelings

into whispers of the night

converging memories and fantasies

into the hallucination 

of dreams.
