Soon

Soon

A Poem by Calissa Knox

You stare at the television
to block out the pain inside.
You listen
to ignore the voices in your mind.

Soon,
the fog will surround you.
Soon,
you'll be standing at the foot of reality.
Soon,
you'll have to embark on your journey...

Because soon,

it will all be over.

I wanted to be the first to review one of your poems, I think being in a different time zone probably helped with this. This poem really hit me, I like the start, it almost calmed me and
than bang, it felt like a mind spiraling out of control. By the end I had almost lost my breath
I read this many times, each time leaving me with the same feeling. Very good.

Thank you!
I like how the last line showed hope :) nothing really does last forever, not even depression!

I really like how you set the scene and managed to fit so much into such a short poem and have it read so well. Nicely done :)

A very touching poem! Feather. I can identify with it so easily. You remind people that there is hope, and we need that because we can't see it for ourselves. Thank you.

I'm glad you could feel it. Thanks for reading! :)
This is a beautifully dark piece which would work as part of a song, too. I like the shorter lines at the beginning, which add to the unfolding drama; and then BAM!! suddenly it's all over.

This one touched me deeply my friend, I see here a real-life scene, in front of my eyes, of a sweet person, who suffers from a mental disease.... and fights it. (there are typical things, you write of, I can recognize someone close to me did too)... you did captured that somehow scary moment here very well)... but there is hope, and there is light, for this person, and your selfless personality talked for him/her, to help, somehow... I felt that.

Plus I can hear your melody back into your words.... fantastic piece.
