Inside these walls

Inside these walls

A Poem by Candy S. Bott

When we were younger

I built these walls to block out the pain

to keep away from disappointments

I wanted to keep you inside with me

I was afraid you would let me down

and hurt me too.

I became so scared

I kept Everyone out

I pushed even you out

I let in only people that I expected nothing of

I expected them to disappoint me

and they did

and that hurt

I became very weary

I was lonely

and you were there

Right outside the walls as you always were

Knocking on my door

was this opportunity to let you in again

And So I did!

It has been only you and I

inside these walls ever since

and ever will be!

This is bittersweet and beautiful, being stuck inside is lonely and sad, i'm glad you found your special someone to share your heart with, one of the most beautiful feelings in the world is knowing inside that there is always someone there beside you every step of the way :)

Great heartfelt write. A relateable poem, for I believe we all put up walls, but sometimes when we least expect it, the one we love will come knocking and the walls come falling down.
