The Man on the Rails ver.1

The Man on the Rails ver.1

A Poem by Dan Mahoney
"

in the face of death who are we?

"

The man on the rails

has none to fear

for he is calm

his death now near

His torment, so tangible

Decision, subliminal

Determined to end it all

Still is calm, as the bars begin to fall

None to gain, life’s still the same

Face filled with torture

Eyes fixed with certain death

He scoffs

All as if to say “what’s next?”

Indecision, there is none here

He stands and stares

No mistake, no more fear

On the rails where no one dares

It stays the same

Even in light of the oncoming train

The world stays tame

There is no choice, for his time is now

Like a tornado

The train comes on

And in a flash

The man is gone.
