What have you seen in your dreams, beneath the shadow, beneath the moon?
I yearn for what I used to have, That happiness within. A luminescent spark, A candle in the dark, Buried somewhere in my sin.
I have no name for what it is I feel. This ache for something gone. It was never in my grasp, Never mine to clasp, A flash of fading dawn.
Just a something glimpsed, Alone on a winter's day. A fortune to be found, Silence in the sound, Of her heart beating away.
And though I wished that it were mine, That vision in my dreams; Two lovers on a hill, Sheltering each other from the chill. Waking hours find reality a nightmare seems.
So I long for what I never had; Answers to the questions I didn't dare to ask. Imprisoned 'neath the shadow of the moon, In the darkness in the corner of my room. Desires forever trapped behind the visage of my mask...
I crave for what I never had, Once upon a winter's eve. You passed me by so long ago in June That night, 'neath the shadow of the moon. And you shall never perceive...
So on my stroll though poetry tonight I happened to come pause here under this forlorn moonlit piece...I can see how you have tied your more recent poem to this one... but I feel more hope blooming within your other write. This one is devoid of that...although this is lovely in its longingly dark way. A beautiful and amazing poem, Caradoc... I truly enjoy everything I read from you.

This poem actually reminds me of a song. I forget the name of it and who sings it... but one of the lyrics is One of God's greatest gifts, are unanswered prayers. The singer is talking about the woman that he used to think he loved, and how she was the one he always wanted and prayed to God to make her his. But then he looks at his wife and thanks God for unanswered prayers....This poem has that same feel. That reminiscent/what if feel to it. I really like it. Good write sunshine :-)

Unanswered Prayers by Garth Brooks. After listening to it myself, I recall that I'd heard it before, years ago. And I have to agree with the narrator in that song. Sometimes it is the unanswered prayers that help us most.
Thanks for reading and reviewing. I'm glad you liked this one. :)
As I first read this I was reminded of childhood. How when you're young life is simple and then you grow up. That feeling is not easily recaptured. As you get older you see things and you want them. Just a glimpse of something, or someone, you believe should be yours. This is more though then missed opportunity. It seems you didn't miss her, but what you could have had together and a feeling you could have once more felt.
I have a more literally take on things though, so might not grasp the deeper meaning.
Well written as always.

Thank you, my Love. Interestingly, this piece is pure imagination. It is not written from any sort of life experience. The girl in the poem is completely made up. :)
Talk to you soon, my Kitty Goddess.
