Out the Cold

Out the Cold

A Poem by Caradoc
"

Almost happy...

"
Beyond the fading mists of time
The tangled thick of bleeding vines
Life is breaking through the black
Dawn's clear rays push back the darkling light
Shining down upon the one;
A warrior cold, heart lost within the night
Missing fragments, his story told
Longing for relief 'neath mourning sun

Radiance reflecting in the eyes
Queen or God, the truth is lost in ice
Battered Knight in armor dark
Reaching for a blood red rose not meant
For him...
He stares up towards the Moon
She smiles back, a lover's scent
Knowing he will depart soon

Yet even as the clouds draw near
The weary Knight lets go of fear
The Moon he loves
And she too, him
Though she a god and he a man
Their bond goes deep and stretches far
Through Night and Day and touching stars

If she can love him
And he can her
Then hope abounds
For that Knight of old
He may yet come back
From Out the Cold
