The Mistake Of My Lover

The Mistake Of My Lover

A Poem by CariCerulli'z
"

This poem goes about a girl who has a lover, and her lover has a gambling problem. So the previous night the guy goes and gambles and loses, and he owes a fortune. So they both decide to kill the guy.

"
SLASH, SLASH, SLASH, a drip ran down his neck
he lay beside a carpet that was now covered in red
I stood beside my lover, who then stared at his hands
How could we have done such a thing to such an innocent man?

Slash, Slash, Slash, is all we told the police
yet dreams of the incident never seemed to cease.
Awoken in screams and drowning in sweat
Imagine what that man could have meant...
He might've had a family, a child or two
he might've had a wife, a mistress, who knew...
perhaps one day God will forgive us for what we have done
perhaps Satan will allow us in his home after such a sin.
I now stare at my lover, each morning when he wakes
to pretend it was the morning before, before our mistake..
When he still held me in bed, and whispered in my ear
"I have an idea, my sweet, but it's something I do fear"
I should have said no, but it seemed too insane
to lose the man I love so much, all for a silly game
He said it was one night to play against the horses at the pub
little did I know it would be such a screw up.
We got away with it too, the slashing I mean,
The police believed my lover, that we weren't to be seen
that we were far away, staying with my mother
but with such hesitance I was afraid to discover

slash, slash, slash, a drip ran down her neck
she now lay beside a carpet that was covered in red.
