Another Day

Another Day

A Poem by Carl

Another day of torture

Another day of pain

Another day to get through

But I mustn't complain

Another day of heartache

Another day to cry

Another day to live

When I just want to die

Another day of torment

Another day of tears

Another day of tablets

To alleviate mt fears

Another day of punches

As my world hits the floor

Another day of fighting

Another day of sore

Another day of damage

Another day of tears

Another day of limitation

Another day of repairs

Another day of blocking

Another day of righting wrong

Another day of defences

Another day of shields on

Another day of shouts and screams

Another day of hit the ground

Another to seek protection

Wherever it can be found

Another day of bruises

Another day of the same

Another day of I'm amazing

But you'll have to tell me again

Another day of longing

Wanting to be free

Another day has ended

How tough was that for me

Carl,
This piece is extremely revealing on so many accounts; yet, I identify with it because of the continuous "struggle" you go through each day that you choose to wake. I am not always a big fan of a poem written in rhyme; however, you pulled it off and did so that this piece does not sound "sing-song". I would encourage you to take this piece and separate it into sections and develop each section more indepth; in doing so, I feel you will discover more that exists between the words in which are already written. I would like to "see" inside of you; to truly "know" your pain, anguish, and, at times, maybe relief at the closing of one day and the beginning of another. It is easy to write these words but what truly matters is what lies behind these words...I believe much lies behind these words and would love to get to know the man and his words.

Thank you,
R. Grayson Cooper, Ph.D.
