Life of a Star

Life of a Star

A Poem by Carolann Dowsett

Flying

through an endless universe

past galaxies without end

I gaze on in wonder

as all around me

stars suffer

the agonies

of life and death

In explosive bursts of colour
they shower the heavens
with the glorious memory

of their existence

Their beauty displayed

in brilliance

across the great expanse

of endless space

I fly alone

through their eternal dance
a speck of dust

in an endless sea of creation

waiting for an end

that will never come

Entrapped

in eternity's embrace
I float aimlessly
a lost soul

amongst a billion stars

I came across a suggestion someplace that the milky way is the birth of new stars and is also the place for stars to be reborn after their sojourn across time and space. The quality of milk draws us to the perception of a woman who may also be so recycling souls with the nourishment from her own body.

Viewed that way your journey appears to me something more than a mere a dream relation. It is the stuff of our lives brought to us by a woman.

I thought the last stanza may read better as ' eternity's embrace.'

.
an interesting piece, carolann. it's asthough you have inverted personification and given a star consciousness. and i get a hint that perhaps people are stars too... (we are supposed to share chemistry, after all)

nice job

A lovely etherial piece once again. The theme of nbeing lost and searching continues and I hope you end the drought as it does happen. I know from the experience I have gone through and my new partner. Now we have found one another it was worth the wait and the trials we went through.

Thank you :) Its good that you have found love.
I can feel it. We all share a piece of the universe and the stars inside of us. We are all mirrors of God and spirit being played out in the physical realm and we all contain all the knowledge and power we will ever need because we all share that galactic memory of the stars and of the heavens.

a lost soul, searching amongst the depths of infinity to acquire that one thing they call home, only to experience its Shattering conclusion. So it is with a person searching for themselves. your true self will never be revealed until your journey's end. then all will be made known by the Explosive forces of what truly was. An Excellent write.

Thank you, you have awesome Insight and depth of understanding
This is a marvelous trip through all those fields of stars. You have taken us where the Hubble Telescope can only gaze in envy. I liked how you focused on the life cycle of stars and the multitude of colors they produce.

Good stuff here:

In explosive bursts of colour
they shower the heavens
with the glorious memory
