The Inbetween

The Inbetween

A Poem by Cassi M.
"

This is pretty much the sequel to Untitled I. Enjoy!

"

I danced with Death today,

The best dance of my life.

He gently took my hand

and led me through meadows of stained roses.

We laughed together

and I found myself in love.

He hugged me close.

I felt a sweet serenity.

I closed my eyes and bathed in relief.

When I opened my eyes I was flying.

I flew through clouds,

surrounded by open fields of blue.

The wind tickled my hair,

and for the first time

I felt alive.

But it was only a few moments later

when I fell to the ground.

Crashing into reality.

Death was standing there

and I realized that I was not alive.

It was a bittersweet reunion with the truth.

I realized that I would never again see the fields,

I would never again smell the roses,

and I would never again touch the sky.

As tears filled my eyes,

the images around me began to melt.

They melted into nothingness.

This was my new home
